The function of water in the body system is an important nutrient of life. Life can only be sustained only for a few days without it. In a healthy person a total amount of water in the body is 50-75%. This varied depends on factors such as age, sex and built. Males have about 60-70% while females have 50-60%, elderly have 45-50% and infant have a total of 77%.

In order for us to maintain those averages and for our body to function correctly, we must drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses, which equals about 2 liters or half a gallon of water each day.
